Beat Cravings And Lose Weight Without Effort.

Cravings for a certain food have been the downfall of many a dieter and caused countless diets to fail.

That piece of cake in the fridge or the thought of a plate of chips can cause irresistible cravings until we finally give in and then start feeling guilty for falling off the dieting wagon.

Cravings for certain types of food happen for a number of reasons.

Dieters experience cravings for some foods because they are forbidden and so become even more irresistible.

Pregnant women often experience cravings for sometimes strange and bizarre foods which can mostly be explained by the high levels of hormones in their bodies.

Some cravings can be explained by nutritional reasons such as having a low blood sugar level which leads to cravings for carbohydrate rich food.

If cravings for a certain food are creating problems for you here are a few tips on how to deal with them. If you suddenly get a craving for cake (or whatever your favourite food is) wait for 20 minutes before you do anything about it. If after 20 minutes it still hasn’t gone away allow yourself to have a small slice this will allow you to get a taste without wrecking your diet.

Try using a substitute food. If you get a craving for crisps try some popcorn with no salt or butter instead. This will help to satisfy your hunger without eating too many calories.

One way to deal with cravings is to stop them happening in the first place. Blood sugar levels are the key to doing this. If you can keep blood sugar levels constant through the day you will be far less likely to experience any cravings.

The best way to do this is by eating 5 or 6 smaller meals instead of 3 large ones as this provides a steady source of energy for the body.
